My Fave Five Redheaded Actresses

All this talk with Justine and Cara about the joys of being a redhead (or artificial redhead in Justine’s case) got me thinking about my favorite actresses who share this wonderful hair color of mine.  Which then also got me thinking I haven’t done a Fave Five list in far too long, so here we are.  There have been many great redheads in cinema, so it’s time to celebrate a few of my favorites.  Each and every one of these actresses are both stunningly beautiful and extremely talented.  So without further ado, here are my Fave Five redhead actresses.

Honorable Redhead) Emma StoneEmma Stone

I put Emma Stone as an honorable mention redhead because sadly, she’s a natural blonde. However, some of my favorite roles of hers have been with red locks: Superbad, Zombieland, and Easy A, just to name a few.  So in that spirit, I’ve included her on this list.

Felicia Day5) Felicia Day

Felicia Day is probably the funniest actress I have ever seen outside of movies.  She has numerous web series on her channel as well as Geek and Sundry, including The Guild which she writes, and has appeared on various TV series.  She’s huge fan of everything nerdy and a pop culturist (is that a word? it is now). If there is an Aphrodite of Geekdom, it’s Felicia.

4) Alyson HanniganAlyson Hannigan

I’ve been slowly working my way through How I Met Your Mother, where Alyson Hannigan plays Lily Aldrin, one of the main characters.  She is easily one of my favorite characters in the series, and I fully believe it’s because of what Alyson brings to the character.  Then of course we can’t forget her role of Michelle in the American Pie series. This one time, at band camp…

Jane Levy3) Jane Levy

Jane Levy may not be in many movies, but she was in the fantastic Suburgatory on ABC, which unfortunately got cancelled after season two.  She brought a down-to-Earth element to a town filled with caked make-up and spray tans, really giving off that “girl next door” vibe.  I hope she stars in another sitcom soon, because that’s where she really shines.

2) Isla FisherIsla Fisher

As great as Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson were together in Wedding Crashers, Isla Fisher stole every scene she was in.  Her deliveries were perfect and I couldn’t stop laughing.  Every time I see her name on the cast list, I’m like, “I have to see that.”

Amy Adams1) Amy Adams

Amy Adams can act in just about every type of movie. She’s done drama (The Fighter and American Hustle), comedy (Talladega Nights), children’s (Enchanted), action (Man of Steel) and many, many more. Is there anything she can’t do!?

Who are some of your favorite redheaded actresses?

    • Thanks, I do too. Jessica Chastain Is a good pick. Unfortunately, like Ms. Stone, Christiana Hendricks is a natural blonde. 😦 So she’s another Honorable Redhead. Felicia Day is primarily online or sci-fi shows on cable television. I don’t know how (or if) they made it into the UK, but I’m sure they can be found online. She is very funny and I highly recommend you watch some of her stuff, particularly a web series called The Guild, which is on youtube.

      • I had to look up the movie again – the movie was terrible… I think her name was Miriam Giovanelli but it doesn’t look like she usually goes red.

Another one I’ll add is Cassandra Peterson before she was Elvira. She’s still quite beautiful today, but in the 70s, she was breathtaking.

Great topic! I didn’t know how much I had to say about redheads!

        • Everyone is giving some pretty solid suggestions. I don’t think I’ve actually seen a picture of Peterson before going all Elvira until now. Thanks! That’s because redheads are the best! 😀

  2. I know she’s a natural blonde, but I’ve always liked Kirsten Dunst too. She even said in an interview that she attracted better guys when her hair was read.

    • Nice choice, SG. I didn’t know she said that in an interview. I’m not surprised though because, let’s face it, redheads are more fun. 😛 Did she have it red for long? I don’t remember seeing it red in anything other than Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. If there’s more, I need to find it!

        • It might have a red tinge but I’m pretty sure her hair is blonde in Jumanji. I’m feeling generous, so I’ll count her voicing a redhead.

    • Nope, sorry. 😦 I’ve only seen her in Interstellar and Zero Dark Thirty (and her performance was the only thing I really liked about the latter). Same with BDH and Gillan, I just haven’t seen them a lot. Jurassic World is the only thing I can recall seeing BDH (there may be more that I don’t realize was her) and I don’t watch Dr. Who so I’ve only seen Gillan in Selfie and Guardians of the Galaxy. Great choices, though! This list was somewhat unorthodox anyway, with one being more of an online celebrity (Day) and one more recently showing up on screen (Levy). I may revisit this list later based on the overwhelming feedback and just because I want to. 😛
