Answer to MWL 12/14/16: Kris Kringle (Edmund Gwenn) – Miracle on 34th Street

Kris Kringle: You see Mrs. Walker, this is quite an opportunity for me. For the past fifty years or so I’ve been getting more and more worried about Christmas. Seems we’re all so busy trying to beat the other fellow and making things go faster and look shinier and cost less that Christmas and I are getting lost in the shuffle.
Doris Walker: Oh, I don’t think so. Christmas is still Christmas.
Kris Kringle: Oh, Christmas isn’t just a day, it’s a frame of mind and that’s what’s been changing. That’s why I’m glad I’m here. Maybe I can do something about it. And I’m glad I met you and your daughter. You two are a test case for me.
Doris: We are?
Kris Kringle: Yes! You’re sort of the whole thing in miniature. If I can win you over, there’s still hope. If not, then I guess I’m through. But I’m warning you, I don’t give up easily. Good night.
Doris: Good night.
